Humane Haven
Our Mission
Humane Haven Animal Shelter (HHAS) is a registered not-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization. As a state licensed humane society, it has dedicated itself to the preservation and protection of the pets of our communities. HHAS serves as the voice for these animals and fosters the placement of homeless pets in compatible, loving homes while also providing the community with pet care awareness and education.

Our Organization
Humane Haven Animal Shelter (HHAS) is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 tax-exempt and state licensed humane society. All money used in the operation of the shelter is gathered through fundraising and private donations. No tax dollars apply.
We feel it is very important to reiterate: As HHAS is a 100% volunteer-run shelter, no member of the organization draws salary or income from it. Every penny we receive, whether it is gathered through donations or fund raising efforts, goes to pay the costs we incur to feed and care for our animals until they are placed in a loving home.
HHAS was founded by Carlotta and Kathy in 1999. As lifetime animal lovers, they were experienced in working with animal rescue groups at the national and local level as well as with humane societies. Their dream was to provide a safe haven for the homeless pets of their communities, where the pets could remain with great effort put into their care and happiness until their Forever Family is found.
HHAS believes that, with support of other caring people in the communities, we can help to reduce pet overpopulation, abuse and neglect.
HHAS reserves the right to deny any applicant interested in adopting a pet.
