Humane Haven Animal Shelter (HHAS) is a state licensed humane society. Located in the VCA Bolingbrook Animal Hospital, we are a 501c3 not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization that is dedicated to the preservation and protection of the pets of our communities. Our mission is to serve as their voice through placement of homeless pets in compatible loving homes and providing pet care awareness and education.

HHAS believes that together with the support of other caring people in our communities, it can help to reduce pet overpopulation, abuse and neglect.

Our area is growing and with it is the number of lost, abandoned and abused animals being turned over to our Shelter, all in need of medical care and human attention. Although the cost of ensuring the emotional well being of pets at the Shelter is low, the cost of achieving and maintaining their physical health is not. The vast majority of pets that come to HHAS – nearly 90% -- are not spayed or neutered. More than half of them will need veterinary care beyond basic vaccinations which runs into hundreds of dollars over several months. Adoption fees alone do not meet those costs. Funding for their care is supplemented through organized fund-raisers and donations from individuals and organizations such as yours.
